Our Story

Welcome to Adventures of the Acehole, where I share blogs that include insights about living with my reactive dog, Ace. He is a Siberian Husky GSD X who is reactive to other dogs. But he is so much more than his reactivity! Join us in celebrating the joys and challenges of dog ownership!

Well, I'm entering into my blogging era. The website is very bare bones at this point but please follow us on our journey at adventuresoftheacehole.com. The purpose of the blog is to write about the trials and tribulations Ace and I experience! It'll primarily be about his reactivity for now but I'm hoping it'll evolve as he's so much more than that! We'll still be posting here but the blog will include more details! Also please give me grace as social media is not my strong suit lol

Putting this on the feed because he's just such a happy doggo! Big smiles for his walks with @teacherspetspetcare who's also teaching me lots too (I'm texting her as we speak lol). I still walk Ace myself so I've been getting info from her on what she does to get Ace to walk nicely on leash so I can continue that success! Also if you're having a hard day and come across this photo, I hope it makes you smile as big as Ace is smiling ❤️

🔹I am an avid book reader (mostly true crime lol). My goal is to read 60 books this year and so far I've read 10.

🔹 I volunteer with the Saskatoon & District Kinettes. This weekend is TeleMiracle 49. TeleMiracle is Saskatchewan's biggest fundraiser! We need to ring those phones this weekend so we can go higher! Visit @telemiracle.official for more info!

🔹 I love going to cafes although I'm not a coffee drinker. My favourite in Saskatoon is a tie between Prairie Ink at McNally Robinson and Sparrow.

🔹 I feel like I'm overcoming my flight anxiety.

Such a nice day! Took Ace to go see @alifjeld at @foundation_chiropractic (which is pet friendly so don't even lol). I also got my LFI gear, took Ace on two walks (which were really two leash training sessions) and sat with him after to calm down and watch his surroundings. It was not on my docket today to fall and severely bruise my tailbone. But what was on the docket was getting Christmas photos of Ace! He’s such a model and he knows it lol. I’m unwell over these photos in a good way 🥰😭🥹

It was so hard choosing just 10 photos so there’s a lot missing lol

It’s Aces gotcha day! 1 year ago this sassy, strong headed, hairy boy came to be part of my life. This has been one of the hardest but most rewarding years of my life. Let’s just saying Ace is one of the more challenging dogs behaviour wise. But when he learns things, it’s even more rewarding for him and me to experience. He’s currently enjoying his gotcha treat of frozen blueberry and pumpkin. There’s lots more I could say but I’ll leave it at that!

How the hell is he so majestic?! Worked from home with the snow dog today. He didn’t actually help me with my work (shocker!) but perked right up when I was done so we went outside for a bit. The second slide is my great aunt (97 years young!) meeting Ace and she goes “I can see why you love this dog”. I’ve been starting to really get my confidence back walking him, especially when triggers are present. I’ve also started getting an agility course setup in the backyard and he’s loving it! On walks, I also try and incorporate some fun training to break up the monotony of walking so that’s what the second to last slide is about from this morning! I don’t think he understood the intention of the chess table in the last slide. I did tell him up and of course that means his entire body 🤣 I’ve had Ace 10 months. I cannot wait to see where we are at the year mark!

8 months with this boy!! Man where do I even start? In some ways, it feels like longer than 8 months 🤣 but he’s honestly the best boy (when he’s not being an Ace hole). We have had our emotional moments with his reactivity (mostly with other people that don’t understand he’s not aggressive and they’re just seeing a snippet of his behaviour). He has brought more stress to my life if I’m being honest. But the joy he brings me and the laughs he elicits definitely outweighs any of the stress! For a GSD/Husky that’s normal range. His vet said he looks and feels great! You can feel his ribs but you can’t easily see them! We’re changing up his diet as well so I’m being mindful of feeding him enough! He also gets apples and carrots sometimes and venison freeze dried raw treats! Ball is life for this dude.
